Answer» HI Every one HELP is the cry. I run a P4 with XP SP2, I have 2 x 40 gig HDD, the 2nd is just formated in fat 32. I removed my second drive to scan another, when i reconnected my drive it took TIME booting up. i then got a message saying my drive (e & f) it reads my drive as fat 32, but then it says it cannot recognised the windows file. I cannot read any data on it. How can it be repaired, as there are files I need which haven't yet been backed up. I've tried REINSTALLING xp, thinking it might correct the problem, when i did this, it told me it could not read some files, I've never had this problem before. should I reformat my drive C. Is there some file corrupt in the OPERATING system. can this be repaired also. Regards P I thought FAT32 only worked with less than 32GB? That might add to the problem. Quote I thought FAT32 only worked with less than 32GB???First i would run chkdsk /r on that drive, Then since you have re-installed you may want to Try This...Quote from: KristopherWindsor on January 13, 2009, 04:32:04 PM I thought FAT32 only worked with less than 32GB? That might add to the problem. FAT32 works up to 2TB. I cannot recall the exact size but at some size XP refuses to format a drive as Fat32 and insists on NTFS. |
