Solve : Cost $59 for Microsoft Support?

Answer»

I was TRYING to get help from Microsoft with setting-up e-mail using "Outlook Express 6" but in order to get assistance, I am supposed to pay $59 for support VIA e-mail. This is outrageous. Apple gives free support. I have already loaded "Outlook Express 6" into my PC using Windows XP, but when I attempt to file/send a page via that account, a message appears that my SMTP could not be found. This has happened to me before with other PCs. Is there another e-mail I could use rather than "Outlook Express"?There are any number of good, free email clients. Thunderbird is one of the best, but if you do a Google search I'm sure you'll have many from which to choose.

And by the way, support forums such as this one do the same thing as Microsoft Support and we don't CHARGE nearly as much  Let be Google that for you

http://tinyurl.com/yhabmqpwho is your ISP? Most of them have a help page to walk you though the setup. You need to know the name of the mail server that they use.

Here is an example from COX

The issue here is not with Outlook Express (OE); it's with incorrect email account settings.  As Spoiler said, check with your ISP on the settings you should be using.  Any of the larger ISPs will have specific INSTRUCTIONS on their website on setting up an email account in OE.

If you can't FIND the info on their website, call them. You surely are entitled to some phone support from your ISP,  even though they may be refer you to a page on their website.
