Answer» Hi, I want to make a bootable cd (independent from the operating system) and have on it the recovery console for diagnostics. I do not have a XP startup cd SINCE I bought the pc with xp already on it.
Thanks for the tips!First, make sure you have your Windows XP Disk Key number recorded somewhere. It should be on a sticker ATTACHED to your PC. If not, use Belarc Advisor to FIND it and make sure you have it available.
Then find a friend with the same version of WinXP you have and get him to burn you a backup disk. Perfectly legal, you have your own Disk Key and legally purchased the copy installed on your system.
This will be a bootable CD if his Nero or Roxxio or NTI CD burner utility is any good.
If you want something different for a bootable CD, download the Knoppix Linux LiveCD...http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/cdrom/
