Answer» How do I create a written "shortcut" in Word for example; such as: typing js for it to 'expand" to Jonathan Smilowitzelwitz. Is this a programming issue, a macro, or is there specific software to accomplish this??
Thanks, Peter1. In a document, type or paste the word, name or text (e.g. Jonathan Smilowitzelwitz) that you want to appear and select it. 2. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect or AutoCorrect Options and then click the AutoCorrect tab. 3. Check the "Replace text as you type" check box, type a two-letter or three-letter abbreviation (e.g. js) in the Replace box, click Add, and then click OK.
This is now stored and from now on, in this and any LATER document, you can type the abbreviation and PRESS the SPACE bar. Word will expand the abbreviation into the FULL name for you. If you ever want to type just js and it gets expanded because you typed a space after it, select the EDIT menu and then click on "Undo AutoCorrect". If you want to edit or delete an entry in the list of AutoCorrect you can do so by going into AutoCorrect Options, clicking the AutoCorrect tab and scrolling to the correct entry in the list that you can see in the lower part of the dialog. The AutoCorrect list is in alphabetical order and already contains many common typing and spelling errors that Microsoft thinks will be useful, and the entries that you add will have an asterisk after them.
Thank You!! Mr. Fish ...........LOL
