Solve : Curppted Windows File?

Answer»

I tried to start xp an came acrossed this on my screen. Windows could not start because the file \\windows\\system32\\config\\system is curppted or missing. Do a repair .....

So I put in the XP disk an hit R hit enter an still comes up with the error. I repaired it like four or five times too see the same message.  I figured whats the differnce between one system file an another? Other then its needed too start XP. I coppied the file from another machine an virtually replaced it on the currpted one. Know Im getting this stop 0x0000007B

You are not booting to the cd. And copying the REGISTRY file from one system to another has now screwed your system completely. EITHER revert to an earlier registry with system restore or format and reinstall. So I can get it too safe mode an do that then  Try this:

Boot to the XP CD and select R (Recovery Console)

At the command prompt type:

ren c:\windows\system32\config\system system.old
copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config

RebootI'll let you know here, Thursday how it worked.  At my college campus till late tonight. Quote from: Allan on March 27, 2012, 10:32:57 AM

I REALLY could do anything.  It came up asking for a password which, there wasnt one to the Admin.  Im takeing the files off an starting over.  I just didnt want too start over if need be.Ryuk, why do you always write "too" when you mean "to"? (Just like Squall used to.) Could you maybe try to stop doing it?

Cause, I was told that was wrong. :/Yes and along that same vein i have just about given up trying to determine what you are trying to say in your posts. As an example what does this mean "I really could do anything." Makes absolutely NO sense whatever. As a suggestion BEFORE you hit the "post" tab reread your post and check for spelling and if the post makes sense. Members are going to be staying away from your posts in droves if you don't improve.truenorth Quote from: truenorth on March 29, 2012, 11:45:50 AM

My pet hate is when he writes 'there' instead of 'they are'.   grrrr

Problem is, all this ADVICE can seem a little harsh, but when you consider that members have to attempt to dechiper every post. It does, very quickly become very annoying............strange how being banned twice already has not changed a thing. You'd think it would......a chance to redeem ones self........alas !!This is absolutely going to be my LAST reference  to my suggestion i made to you in my 1:45 post re what you need to do BEFORE you hit the "reply" icon. When you say "ment" is this what you really MEANT ="ment

a suffix of nouns, often concrete, denoting an action or resulting state ( abridgment; refreshment ),  a product ( fragment ),  or means ( ornament ). truenorth
P.S. This phenomenon of yours is NOT only specific to today's thread it is your common practice.Okay guys - we all know the shortcomings of slade / squall / ryuk. If they bother you to the point you have to criticize him, please just ignore his threads and don't post. Thank you.
