Hello,

I don't know what caused it, but I have started getting an error message when I try to RIGHT click on items on my desktop or in a windows explorer window.  I am only trying to delete items from my desktop (folders of photos of my kids) and I can't do it directly or via C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\desktop.  I get the same thing.  Even if I try to cut!  I don't understand what is happening.  I have a tablet pc and I am receiving the following error message.  I have run a virus scan and I have checked add/remove PROGRAMS but there isn't anything out of the ordinary there.  I am up to date on my windows updates as well.  If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate them.

Did you install any new software or make any changes right before it started?It started happening a few days ago.  I installed JAlbum, a web-photo publishing software that I have been using for years and updated my java.   I noticed it right after I installed these, but I cannot be sure they are the "culprit."  I don't normally save things to my desktop unless I am publishing photos so I don't normally have a need to right-click on my desktop.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both with no luck.  Alternately I can left-click on any icon on my desktop, including the aforementioned folder of photos and they all EXECUTE without issue.

An update.  Last night I ran full virus, malware and spyware scans last night and all came back clean.  I use AVG for antivirus, and I used Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D to do the malware/spyware scans.Try doing a system restore to before the problem started.

If that doesn't help, click Start then Run and type in: sfc /scannow and press enter. Notice the space between the c and the /. Have your windows CD handy, it will ask for it.Unfortunately, neither worked.  The scannow ran for about an hour but no luck.  I had the system restore all the way back to early August but that didn't work either.
