Answer» Every time I try to defrag my win 98 it freezes up....any ideas?Cathie....You might try shutting down and rebooting into safe mode and then try defragging .
dl65 disable screensavers...run aso............from majorgeeks .com....how much ram have you GOT??or rub the defrag command from the msdos prompt..in the safe mode .........>F5 key on boot...I believe you are suposed to hit the "F8" on boot, not F5. UNLESS I am wrong, I believe that was a TYPO.That's right actually.... It is F8... Good catch.... It's just a typo...
[glb]Flame[/glb]Hi,Cathie,i have found the best way to defrag is to go into"System Configuration UTILITY",in the start up menue, untick all the boxe,s exept,"System Registry, andScan Registry, then close down, restart, then defrag, when done go back into"System Configuration Utility"in "start" tick all the boxe,s you unticked earlier, then restart.I hope this will help you, best wishes,Jeffg321.
