Solve : Deleted user on win2k now i cant load original dir?

Answer»

so i was trying to make an acc for my sister. i accidently DELETED my admin account. so after finally making the same account, i think i did, it starts it up as if its new. i tried messing with the folder properties in documents & settings. but i dont know what i'm doing. is there a way to apply that directory to the redone account? or setting it as its an old user. because i launched firefox and it started up thinking its a new user. id like to be able to use firefox with its settings i put. PLUS its history and auto DONE typing/passwords.

stats: windows 2000 service pack 4. i really dont think you need to know the hardware. but just say so. the pc was a gift so i dont have the disk.well when you delete an account it gives you the option to save the old accounts documents and settings. so im not sure where they would be saved on 2000. the account you delete was it the only one on the computer before you deleted it?

unlovedwarriorIt may be gone, but if Firefox settings are all you lost consider yourself lucky. Quote

You woudn't accept a car without any car keys, so why do people accept computers without a Windows CD? they dont know the power of the cd Quote

Well,  free is free.

It could be the difference of a person having a computer and not having one.

You just want to try and not create problems for yourself, and if its in good working order, do everything you can to keep it that way.

If it does crap, big deal it was free.  true but you should ALWAYS ask for the cds if they have them Quote

Of course.  Any Win2K CD will work on that machine if you know anyone who has one...
Since that machine came with a liscensed copy you would not be violating the EULA by doing a repair install of your OS.

Travel to the link below, print out the instructions and follow the steps for a "fast repair".
This will repair the registry, restore your existing accounts and save your data...
