Answer» kay, i am not sure if this is the right forum or not, but i'll try. i am running xp and have a 80gig drive. it was showing that i was at 80% disc space used and wanted clear up a little more space on my hard drive. so, i deleted many old files, music pics, etc. (approx. 15 gigs) when i went into the recycle bin, i noticed that there were fewer files in there than i had actually deleted. so i emptied it anyway, and when i check on my used space, it is still showing 80% as being used. i even TURNED off the computer for awhile, and that didn't help. any suggestions, would be appreciated. thanksNeed...more...info...gasp
Operating SYSTEM / antivirus & antispyware protection / service packs installed / ?
Alan <>< it's windows xp-home, (sp-1) with all/most recent updates & patches. with norton antivirus & spyware. A good place to start is to disable the indexing service.Try clearing the cache in internet explorer. This can take up a lot of space, if IE is running on default settings. Check the size of these directories: Program Files & Documents and Settings. Uninstall programs that you don't use. Hasn't norton GOT a FEATURE where it stops things being deleted properly?
