I have turned over a new leaf and stopping viewing PORN on the web. Is there a way I can remove all traces of it from my pc, so that my wife doesn't see it? Sometimes when you type in a URL, past porn sites I have visited that start with the same letters will pop up in the box below the URL line. Also, my Windows Media Player has a bunch of video porn files on it. Fortunately my wife is not very computer literate. But is there a way I can get rid of this stuff for peace of mind? (Without spending any money of course).hehe that's an interesting post  .  but ya you could go into your browser (may be a different path depending on which one you have, i use mozilla myself), click on the tools, then options, then you want to get into privacy and erase everything.  also to get all of the files out of media players the best thing that i have found is to go to downloads.com and download ccleaner, it's a freeware program.  run all three modes and it should do the trick.  good luck   Shinboe,

When I get into that privacy box, I don't see any way to erase anything. All there is a bar that moves up and down that lets you decide how you want your cookies to be handled.Would you want a pay softwear or a free softwear. I would say is better because they have things that would completley erase all traces of everything.

A friend told me that trick.  sorry i forgot to mention the firewall logs, the www.ccleaner.com worked just fine for me, clears all my logins and urls from the memory.  what browser are you using, if i knew that i would be able to help you betterI forgot, it also may be a good idea to go to lavasoft.com and download ad-aware se, and spybot search and destroy from downloads.com.  this will erase all of the spyware that comes from going to porn sitesI THINK you can do that manually also:

Remove cookies
TEMPORARY files
History
Search registry for "Recent files" -> here you can remove entries of media player.
Firewall logs -> New thing for me

R0SSRe-Partition, re-format and re-install.

Old ntuser.dat files and software files probably still contain entries where porn diallers and some .exe files are concerned so it is better to format IMO.

That way conscience is clear.Install Mozilla Firefox, install Block XXX and forget the password. It works. Trust me. Good thing I removed some of the keywords, otherwise it wouldn't even let me search for *censored* robin.  


What you NEED to do is write zeroes to the entire HDD. Reformatting doesn't quite work if you truly want to remove all traces.
