Answer» Hi
Can anyone help me. My teenage sons are always one step AHEAD of me when it comes to installing games, programs, etc., when they should be doing their homework. Each time I work out how to delete or prevent them,my sons come up with something new to install and protect them.
For example, they have installed a program called 1st Security Agent and when I tried to delete it in "Add/Remove Programs", they have set a password so that I can't delete it. Can anyone tell me how to bypass this password in order to delete this program?
Also, when I did a "Search" for this program "1st Security Agent" and found it in C drive, when I attempted to delete it, a message came up saying its in a folder called "newlock.exe" and that it couldnt be deleted. So, I did a "Search" for the file "newlock.exe" and after I found it and attempted to delete it, again it said it was locked and I couldn't.
Please can anyone help me, I am really frustrated.
Thank you.Moveonboot from here is free..
Set up accounts without admin privileges for your offspring, see Limited Accounts here.
Good luckHi Dusty
Thanks for your help however, I am still having a little problem, would you mind helping out again.
I installed MoveonBoot and dragged the 1st Security Agent address from the "Search Results" into the MoveonBoot bar. It said that it would delete this file on my next boot. Anyway, I shut down the computer and then started it up again however, when I had a check the file was still in Add/Remove Programs. When I tried to remove it in Add/Remove Programs the same box came up saying "enter password". So it didn't work.
I tried another Search on this file and when it came up I again tried to delete it but the same box came up again saying "error deleting file or folder", "cannot delete newlock.exe:, access is denied", and "make sure the disc is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use".
The thing is, there is no disc in the computer and I am not currently using the file
What to do?
p.s. is boot the same as shutting down and then starting up again?
Yep, starting up is booting.
Have never heard of Moveonboot failing but here is another freebie which claims to unlock files.
Good luck with this one.
Hi Dusty
Thanks again for your help, its been excellent. ACTUALLY today when I checked, one of the locked files had GONE and I was easily able to delete the other one. So maybe it just NEEDED a couple of boots or something, I don't know, but anyway, their gone and its all thanks to your help.
Thank you.
Missy If your boys can't be respectful and abide by your rules, then perhaps they should lose their computer privelages.Quote from: missy on August 21, 2007, 07:09:26 PM Hi Dusty

Thanks for coming back at us to report your success Missy.
Just for future reference were you successful when using Moveonboot or Unlocker?
I agree CBMatt however, small problem. They are all (three of them) over 6 foot and I am just past 5foot 3inch so.... Maybe you could come over and sort them out for me!!
Besides, they are always one step ahead of me, ie. unlocking, locking, hiding, deleting, bypassing, etc., you name it they can do it. Its a constant battle between us to see who can get to the computers first and get the upper hand by UNDOING everything that the last person has just done.
But hey, you guys are my new weapons now, so they've been warned!
Hi Dusty,
Yes, it was the Moveonboot, I hadn't actually installed Unlocker yet. I was just about to when I thought I would have one last check and try, and it was successful with the Moveonboot. So, I'm thrilled!

Sure thing. After my night, I could go for a bit of *censored*-kicking! Heh.
