Answer» My computer has the BSOD. It won't open up in any mode, safe, etc. I have Windows XP Home Edition. These are the codes that are on the blue screen. 0X00000024 (0X001902FE,0XF7A1A3BO,0XF7A1A0AC,0X86F6EFFE)
These seem to change, though.
0X00000050,(0X94D7FDEC,0X00000000,0X86F76057,0X00000000)
ALSO, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA has also shown up. The lights on the back of the unit are: green, green, green, yellow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.1) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?
2) Boot the system and continually tap the F8 function key until you get to the advanced boot options screen. Select the option that says: "Disable restart on system failure". Reboot. Please POST the entire contents of the blue screen including any drivers or files mentioned. This is what shows on the monitor. Thanks again for the help.
A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your harddrive configuration, and check any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK / F to check for harddrive corruption then restart your computer.Do all of the above...including Allan's suggestion and report back with your results...When F8 is tapped I go to a black screen with this:
Floppy DISKETTE seek failure Keyboard failure Alert! System BATTERY voltage is low. Strike F1 key to continue, F2 key to run setup utility.
F1 takes me to these choices.
safe mode safe mode with command prompt safe mode with networking Last known good configuration start windows normally
Anyone of these I choose goes to blue screen.
I can go to setup utility only.Replace your CMOS battery 1st...Part # CR 2032...3 Bucks available anywhere...
Then do all of the above...make sure the unit has no power connected to it.

Never understood why they couldn't have said something everyone understands: Alert! System battery is weak. Replace CMOS battery.
Replaced battery, so that alert is gone. I still can't find where the advanced boot menu is. F8 brings me to the safe mode menu. F12 is a boot menu. I did a hard drive diagnostic there, and it passed.Advanced Boot Menu is Submenu of Setup Menu.Advanced Boot Menu nowhere to be found as a submenu. Am I looking in the wrong place?I can get to Boot Device Menu.

System Menu=System SetupI do not have this option," Disable restart on system failure". No matter what I try, it always goes to blue screen. Any other options?Yes.. Boot to the XP CD and do a repair install... http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
Done properly all your data and apps will be fine...1 mistake and all will be gone...but you will have a fresh install of XP. So i suggest reading it thru and printing out a reference copy before starting...
