Answer» I have a dell dimension 1100 and I cannot boot from cd drive or access bios settings...
The operating system runs flawlessly but I wanted to boot spin-rite and found I could not boot from cd so I tried to access bios but every time I TRY to start the computer and hit any of the F keys the computer quits booting completely.
If I power down the pc and restart, it starts of up fine. So I cannot access boot settings or the bios...
Any suggestions would be appreciated...Using a PS2 Keyboard it looks like you want to press F2 ACCORDING to google search. There was a person trying to do this with a USB keyboard and had issues. Is your keyboard USB or PS2? If its USB, then you need to FIND a PS2 type connector keyboard to USE to get into BIOS.

F2 to enter BIOS F12 to select a boot device without altering BIOS ( used for 1 time boots of CD or DVD without altering the boot order of BIOS )I have a PS2 Connecting keyboard ...
When I press F2 or F12 the computer just sits idle and will not boot at all...
As soon as I press the start button on the tower I repeatedly press the keys...
I have tried both F2 and F12... Nada!
Nothing happens, pc won't boot at all. I have to power down before I can get the pc to boot in regular mode..
It does boot up fine just in regular mode..
I have searched google to see if anyone else has had this issue to no avail..
Do you think I need to just get a new keyboard?...the key board worked fine on my old hp I had and never had any problems getting into bios, safe mode, or boot sequence..
and Thanks for replying to my post...appreciate it much.,
Kirk I'd certainly try another keyboard...PS2 PREFERABLY.
