Download, and install SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php Post your computer temperatures:
Provide processor info (hold Windows logo key, and hit Pause/Break key to find out).
Post two results, one when computer idle, second one when watching video.amd athlon(tm) 64 x2 dual core processor tk-53 1.70 ghz idle temp 181 fcorrection idle temp 149, the other temp was internet and maybe one or two apps open and no videoI need to know what are ALL temperatures listed.good NEWS....i took apart the computer and the vent's were partially blocked and the fan was covered as well, so i cleaned it all out and it dropped the temp down to 117 deg's idle, What did you use to clean the inside? Compressed air?trust me it's ok, i'm using it to talk with you and it has'nt overheated in 24 HOURS or shut down...i wanna say thanks , but do have a question bout the battery, it has a charge detector built in which say's full, but computer will not run unless plugged in and i get a window pop up ref to the charger cannot be identified..is it time to replace battery and the charger or something else maybe...thanks again for your helpoh on start up i get a screen ref the charger i have to click enter before it will finish booting...If you're referring to the message that says "Your charger's voltage/wattage cannot be determined. The computer will continue to operate, but at a reduced state of performance" or something similar, what that means is:
A. The charger needs replacing. B. The motherboard needs replacing.
I had this exact problem several times, Dell laptops seem to be plagued with it. It has something to do with a faulty battery circuitry, I'm not really sure of the specifics. HOWEVER, basically either:
A. Your computer thinks the battery is full and won't charge it. B. Your computer thinks it is dangerous to recharge the battery and refuses to do so.
I do suggest you always place your laptop on a flat surface to keep it well ventilated, and to always keep it clean of dust. This can ALSO happen from overheating (but it's unknown to me as to why the battery circuitry would fail.) If replacing the charger does not work, a Dell technician replaced my motherboard and the computer resumed normal operation.
If this is not your problem, please post the error message you are receiving on boot up so we can further diagnose the issue at hand.
