Answer» Hello,
My LAPTOP has been running really slow. I saw once BSOD screen but didn't write down info. HOWEVER, BSOD screen appeared only once so far...Right now just slow performance.
I've done:
1. defragmentation
2. disk clean up (system tools)
3. scanned with Windows Live Care...NOTHING showed (my version expires soon as it's free)
I came across Windows Memory Test on one of the forums saying to test/ check RAM etc...
Any further suggestions...?
Thanks
You can boot to the Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r Also, go to System Properties - Advanced - Startup & Recovery Settings and uncheck "automatically restart". If the blue screen appears again it will stay up - post the entire contents here. Otherwise don't worry about it - might not be anything to be concerned with unless it happens again soon.
BTW - I'd use a good, dedicated AV instead of Live Care. Also download MalwareBytes and scan with it once in a while. Thanks Allan.
I have some more questions:
1. I've NEVER done "Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r". Since I've run "disk clean up (system tools)" ...isn't it the same?
2. Which AV you'd suggest instead of Windows Live Care...?
2.when running Roxio app..I am having 2 error messages...
"Mediahub.exe -Application Error" "The memory couldn't be written."
"Microsoft Visual C++ -Runtime Library" "R6025 - pure virtual function call"
Any suggestions? Thanks again Allan.

Absolutely not

Literally anything is better than Live Care. If you are willing to pay, then you have a lot of good options (Kaspersky, Nod, Norton/Symantec, Avira, Avast, too many to name). If you want a free utility then Avira and Avast have good free options.

Do a Google search on both of those error messages and you'll see lots of returns.
DLoad and try CDBurnerXPro....FREE.
It's nice ENOUGH that you just may dump Roxio.
PS. Windows is abandoning Live One Care...thanks for your help Allan and patio. I will try doing those steps that you advised. Although I am a bit scared doing "Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r"...as it'll be my first time.
There's nothing to be afraid of.
