Answer» Like many at that time the original owners were scared spitless of Vista and opted for a downgrade to XP Pro. Since we got it that WAY, XP Pro is what will go on it.I was confused, because you said: "...running WINDOWS XP but it has a Windows Vista coa on it...". Don't know if the Recovery Partition was Vista or XP. I don't UNDERSTAND how it can have a Vista COA if Dell installed XP? Since XP was considered a "downgrade", maybe you can USE either one?Hi, sorry for slow reply. My guess is that Microsoft bowed to CONSUMER wishes but left a possibility of getting Vista on the machine if they could fix it. That is why it had the Vista coa on it but was loaded with XP Pro.
