Solve : dell wireless keyboard and mouse don't work after login screen????

Answer»

my dell with xp is having a problem after it froze yesterday the usb wireless mouse and keyboard appear not to work after the user log-in screen. (or it's operating really slow)

Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm pulling out what LITTLE hair I have left!!!

Thanks,
JoeDo you have a 'wired' keyboard and mouse that you can test with?

How about the batteries, are they charged or replaced?

Not around but I did REPLACE the batteries. the mouse and keyboard are working before the login screen like if I want to restart the computer. Is there a button on the bottom of the keyboard and/or mouse for restoring the connection?tryed all of that. I can't select anything in the startup in the users but the end program window will COME up afetr awhile but I can't move the mouse to click on it. even when position the mouse before it freezes it doesn't click on any thing inside the user. I do have control and it works NORMAL before the login screen.

thanks for your help!!!So you tried the connect button and still no joy?

Can you try the mouse and keyboard on another computer to test them?

They are working when I boot but not inside the users. This all started when my kids had up Itunes and playing Sims if that means anything. If i put in a DVD the program opens but can't move the mouse. This is very frustrating. It sounds like one of your settings was changed.

You may need to borrow a 'wired' keyboard and mouse to fix this.that's my next step. Thanks for the help

JoeNo problem. Let me know how it goes.

Oh, and welcome to CH.OK will doThanks for the help and I got everything working again. I had to make my bluetooth recognise the keyboard and mouse again.
