Answer» My HELP backfired. I sent my brother a program to find duplicate FILES and he called to say that he used it found alot of them kept the latest and deleted the others. When he tried to turn on the computer he gets a preliminary indication which turns into a screen that says ntldr needed and can go no further. He has the reinstall cd disk xpwith patch 2 that came with the computer which I had him put in drive and start computer cd light blinks but does not read disk. He like me has limited knoledge so we need help. What can we do to get the computer to run. If I down load the BOOT disk that I can get on the microsoft site and mail them to him will that WORK. Since he cannot get his to work, I am hoping that with the proper info I can undo my good intentions. I guess that some critical file has been deleted that causes it to fail to boot up. can anyone help me with this? If more info is required I can contact him to get it. Thanks "Geegee" Geegee.... It will wipe the HDD and restore to the original state.It would be important to know what the disk says EXACTLY on it. IF it is a recovery disk supplied from the MANUFACTURER, is it the correct one for that machine? If not and is a Windows CD is it a real one with a hologram on it?

I assume it's Recovery Disk? It should be bootable.
