Solve : Denied access to files? |
|
Answer» Hello, I have recently used the Acer RECOVERY tool to reload Windows XP whilst saving a back up of all files (see previous thread). All worked really well and Windows installed fine. However, when I try to access the backed up files (in C:Backup) I get an error message advising that accedd is denied. The properties of my C drive show that there is 130Gbs of data used so the files must have been backed up, I just cant access them. I have an idea that this COULD be because I set a password on the previous installation of XP, but I would have thought that on reinstalling with a single administrator access user would not cause an issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I have about 100Gbs of photos that I would like to retain (and yes I will back these up afterwards - lesson is being well and truly learned!!) ThanksYou need to take ownership: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421In what method are you trying to access the files? Are you trying to OPEN them, move them, delete them, what?Ignore Smilence's POST |
