Solve : Desktop and Taskbar completely disappeared?

Answer»

Running Windows 7. On START up it runs normally into the password screen, input password and it then runs into the welcome screen, then the screen turns blank except for a small window showing the Advanced System Care monitor. By clicking on scan it allows me to access the internet which is how I am able to post this question but there is no way I can get into my files or programmes. I cannot right click and get a menu up or get anything by pressing shortcut keys I am at a total loss as to what to try next. I don't really want to re-install as I will lose all my files, I have 75% backed up but it will still be a big loss. Any help will be much appreciatedcan u c anything when u PRESS CTRL+SHIFT+ESC at the same time

if yes try this option

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell..if the value data is set to explorer.exe this who work..but if it not than change to explorer.exeAnother example why we don't recommend all in ONE fixit tools such as Advanced System Care here...
If the data is important 1st i'd suggest removing the HDD and hooking it up to a working system and retrieving the data...
Then we can move on to repairing the Windows install...

BTW you can safely ignore the above advice.whats wrong with the above advise eggheadQuote from: patio on April 24, 2014, 12:31:31 PM

whats wrong with the above advice?
First thing you want to do is refrain from any sort of personal attacks on this forum. You can ask the same question without the "egghead" comment.

Second, while the advice you provided is not unreasonable, you should not suggest that people edit the registry without explaining the potential hazards of doing so and also explaining how to first BACKUP the registry.
