Answer» Hope someone can help me with this. I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 530, 3 ram, quad core etc, c/w Vista home premium. On the DESKTOP already installed were some shortcuts with their familiar images, google earth, ebay etc. Adding my own shortcuts gives me only the generic e symbol with an arrow and the name of the link in text beneath (eg yahoo! mail). Why can i not get the image on there. My old system running XP had no such issues. RegardsSimply right-click the shortcut image you want to change, SELECT Properties, then the Change Icon button. Thanks for that, yes i can change to one of the many ICONS in Vista but not the correct icon that represents the site/company its linking to. For instance Yahoo should be a red Y from the yahoo motif or Ford MOTOR company the familiar blue oval, or at least these were on my old XP system plus the links already on the desktop when this computer CAME out of the box have the proper Logo, eg google earth a blue earth picture. So why do i no longer have the nice images available? RegardsOnly programs come with corresponding images, websites do not.
The links you had before may have been added by some program or another that came with the proper pictures.
