I have an old Sony Vaio with Windows ME which had some serious issues...I reformatted it and put on Windows 98SE and I can not get the MODEM to work. I tried to reinstall WIN98SE and this ERROR occured:
Device Installer Error:
"Set up cannot load the installer (Modem.cpl) for the Esswdm HARDWARE being installed. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance."
I have tried everything that I can think of to get this modem to work. But no luck. Has anyone out there EXPERIENCED this before and you you please offer a solution.

Wins98BluesSometimes drivers are the same for ME and 98, sometimes not. Make sure the hardware is compatible and make sure you have the right driver.
