Solve : diagonal red cross in white square?

Answer»

Hi people(again),
No doubt you clever people will find this easy to answer. When I get emails some of the pictures sent do not display. All I get is a red diagonal cross in a white square. I have spoken to the sender and the pictures are just Jpegs so it is nothing unusual.

In an effort to solve this problem I have been into Tools on the Explorer toolbar, opened Advanced and made sure that "show pictures" in the Multimedia section is ticked (no change). This problem although minor is somewhat irritating and your help would be appreciated.

THANKS

Graham.Are these e-mails FORWARDED to a bunch of people ? ?

Some people don't do it right...Hi, the person who sent it to me was able to open the picture. When it was forwarded to me I wasn't able to open it.

Cheers,

Graham. Can any of the other people that got the email SEE the picture?Hi Calum,
The person who sent it to me was able to open it as indeed  were the people who received the email before her.

Cheers,

Graham. Quote from: Graham on June 24, 2007, 01:20:39 PM

Hi Calum,

We need to know whether the other people she sent the message TO were able to see the image, not the person she received it FROM.Hi people,
It would appear that other people that she sent the picture to were also unable to open it. AND, after right clicking on the email itself and looking at the properties it shows the WHOLE email (INCLUDING red cross etc) as 15kb only. That says to me that there ain't no picture behind that red cross. Do you think that there is a problem with the "sending" computer rather than my "receiving" computer?

Over to you.

Graham.  Yes, it's their fault.
Get them to re-send it after checking through to make sure everything is there.Hi Calum,
Thanks for the advice. Job done I reckon  .

Cheers,

Graham. Also maybe suggest in future that they copy and paste images into the body of the message to ensure proper arrival.... Quote from: Graham on June 25, 2007, 01:50:52 PM

You're welcome.
patio's advice above is good too, make sure you tell the sender what's up or they'll keep doing it.If the sender isn't sure what setting to change, let us know what they're using for email.  Outlook Express, Outlook, etc.?
