Solve : Dial-up modem?

Answer»

I have a hp 7850 desktop with a V.90 56KBPS modem, Intel Pentium 3 933MHz processor, 256MB Ram,80GB hard drive, and a CD-Rw Primary Drive. When trying to make a connection to AOL I get the message "The modem was unable to complete the call".(error:77-QSDG).I also get the screen"Connect Option" that will give the access phone numbers, locations, dialing options, call waiting, LINE type and modem info. All of it says N/A.I called the geek squad and they want an initial $159.00 to set up my modem. I entered AOL'S access NUMBER and all necessary information, but the computer does not recognize the modem. As you can see, I know almost NOTHING about computers, any help would be appreciated. Thank You. P.S. I conducted a modem test, the modem does work. The Os is Windows XP Pro.do you hear a dial tone when trying to connect? Also, what is your operating system? is it windows? if so, what version?Yes I hear a dial tone, I also hear it dialing. I have windows XP Pro.Why don't you call your ISP? yeah if you're not satisfied with what they tell you over the phone, then demand that they send a tech over to fix your problem or refund your money!

I use At&T and every single time somebody came and fixed every single problem I complained to them about to my satisfaction! That's some good service.
