Answer» I have a problem. A windows program does not start properly under windows while it is with exe extension. After renaming the extension to com it works well. I have no idea.
Try the info found here... BASICALLY looks like different compilers... same reason a .JPG can be randomly renamed to .gif - they are different formats and windows relies almost entirely on the extension to determine what to do when a FILE is selected.

D. We have no idea either...since we don't know what program ...or what Windows version for that matter.A com file is the same as an executable file with a few differences. One is the SIZE, a .com file's MAX size is 65280 bytes. The .com can be put onto a .exe file and not affect the way a program runs because what makes an .exe an .exe is the first two bytes being set to 0x4D and 0x5D.
That being said, I don't know why your change made a difference.Nice explanation, Anodoin...
