Answer» I have been trying on and off all week to connect 2pc's by ethernet cable(cat5). I pc is a desk top running XP pro sp1. The other is a laptop running xp pro sp2. The lap top is on a wlan with one other, and the desk top is wired to the dlinkG604t. There is no way that these two will communicate(must be married lol). Has ANYBODY GOT any IDEAS? I re-installed my xp today in the hope that it may find something...But still no talkee....But. the gun is at hand. thanksI am no network expert but I SERIOUSLY recommend upgrading the SP1 computer to SP2.That is exactly what I'm trying to do,but I want to backup my files to my laptop, and untilI can do that I dont wish to try it :-?Make sure you are connecting via crossover cable. If not, you will not be able to transfer stuff without a router.Disable dhcp at the router and set up static ips for each computer and ensure that filesharing is enabled and the workgroup/subnet is the same for all computers. |
