Solve : DirectX problem - help!!? |
|
Answer» My SON was trying to install "NFS Carbon", amongst other things. He probably messed up my directX files that was installed. I am using XP, and the DirectX version is 9.0b, It will not install 9.0c, even THOUGH it says so. I picked up a problem with a "qasf.dll" file. And windows says its an older version. I dont think its a good idea to uninstall directX. Can I DELETE this file and replace it with the correct version?GO here and download it from there, does that install properly? And yes, to repair DirectX the previous version should be uninstalled first... Quote And yes, to repair DirectX the previous version should be uninstalled first...It normally can't be uninstalled, can it? That's what I see at http://ask-leo.com/how_can_i_uninstall_directx_9.html. And, Microsoft's page for DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer says, "The DirectX runtime cannot be uninstalled. We recommend Windows Me and Windows XP users turn on a "System Restore" point before installing. For INFORMATION on turning on a restore point, please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles: Windows Millennium Edition: Microsoft Knowledge Base article 267951. Windows XP: Microsoft Knowledge Base article 310405." From majorgeeks |
