Solve : Disk Clean Up Wont Remove Compressed Old Files?

Answer»

My computer has been SLOW lately.  I normally perform a disk clean up 2-4 times a week without even paying attention to the info for each category.  The past to weeks I noticed the total files size has been 3 million plus.  That's when I realized It doesn't delete Compressed Old Files.  I have already tried cleaning them up with my "Norton" program, a program that was recommended on here "CCLEANER", and running a defrag.  Nothing helps!!   Another thing I have noticed is when I run LiveUpdate with Norton Every time I run it It says there are 25 updates available and I down LOAD them every time.  I believe they are the same files and my computer is not allowing them to be saved on my computer or something.  I would appreciate any help that anybody could offer.  THANKS!!  Michael.

O and I am running Windows XP Home Edition, in a VPR Matrix with a Pentium 4,  1,024 MBThat's because Disk Cleanup is not offering to delete the compressed files, if you read the screen you will see that Disk Cleanup is offering to COMPRESS your old files for you.Well either way shouldn't it have cleared that after I FINISHED the disk clean up?  I have performed a disk clean up many times and the number remains the same at 3,126,042kb   the "WebClient/Publisher Temp Files" does the same thing although it is only holding onto 32kb   that and my Norton not saving any of the updates I download for it.  it says it is complete than I close it and right away a message pops up saying that I need to update my virus definitions.I think the default is NOT to compress old files, it's not something I do, too risky IMO.
