OK FIRST my specs.....

1.6 ghz cpu amd athon xp
1 gig single channel ram
128mb geforce mx 4000 (sux never buy again)(also i 95% this is the culprit)
as-rock motherboard
some recently installed sound card but my problems came before it's installment


OK so anyways.....
1. when i BOOT up i GETTING memory dumps and it displays some driver for my graphics card.
2. windows won't install the update windows 3.1 installer
3. screen blacks out but always comes back up after like 3 seconds

but.....
1. once it's up and running it runs games rock solid
2. not slow or anything
3. everything else works

should i go through the work of reinstalling my graphics card and seeing if it works.
repair windows.
or do we know that my graphics card is dead--------------------------------

passive heat SINK on it and i very easily could have fried it cause I'm a jerk and over work it a *little bit* run it in 1600 by 1200
