Solve : Do I really need all the old versions of .NET Framework??

From v1.1 to present, there are hundreds of MB of updates to the .NET Framework. Is it really necessary to have all of these older versions still on my PC or can they be removed/uninstalled?.NET Framework versions install independently, because different programs may need different NET veriosn.
In GENERAL, no NET has to be installed at all, until some program actually asks for it.So, do I just keep adding versions/patches/service packs ad infinitum (or is that ad nauseum)? At what point can I uninstall old versions? What is the risk of uninstalling say, 1.1, for instance, and just leaving everything 2.0 and newer? Quote

If you re-read my previous reply, you'll REALIZE, there is no such thing as old NET version.
