Answer» Recently switched to Win XP...when I CLICK on my Desktop shortcut for my Dos data base program, I receive this message Window Title: 16 Bit MS Dos Subsystem
C:\Docume~1\owner\desktop\adbm4.pif Invalid startup directory, PLEASE check your pif. file Choose "close" to terminate this application.
I am Computer illiterate and do not KNOW the Dos version. The Properties lists the Program as ADBM4.exe I'm running Win XP Service Pack 3 HP Pavilion 304w Thanking you in advance!FIND the executable for the program ...it'll be a .exe extension in the program folder. Right clik it and select Create shortcut. Drag and drop it to the desktop and save. Delete the old one. Then right clik the new one and choose "run in compatibility mode". It should work now.
NOTE: If the user profile has been changed from Quote C:\Docume~1\owner\desktop\ then just start the whole process over after a re-boot. Ideally this should be setup from the Admin account.Thank-you "Patio"So it worked then ? ?
Yess it did! ThanksStop by anytime...and Welcome to CH ! !
