Answer» I'm have a really frustrating issue that's been PESTERING me for a while...When I try to download a video file from Google Video, for example, the download will begin, then a few minutes into it will stop & tell me it's completed, when it's only downloaded maybe 10% of the file. I have lots of free space in my hard drive (40%) and every so often it will complete the download,no problems. But more often than not,it'll quit on me. I have wireless broadband connection & I'm running Windows XP/Service Pack 2. Help?! Where are you trying to connect from geographically? In the US or outside the US?
I often have this problem. If for some reason the download is interrupted (bad connection to vid server, bad connection to ISP, etc.) the download will report itself as finished, even when it isn't.You STATED that you are on WiFi, do you have a great SIGNAL? Try moving closer to the WiFi router to see if its any BETTER. its not the problem with windows xp i have tried download something outside from my country and certain times that thing happen.. maybe its because of the video you wanted to download...I'm in New Zealand. It doesn't seem to be a geographical problem, though. I have a great wi-fi signal.Sometimes there'll be no problem, other times, like right now,it's a problem! What the pop up window will typically say,for example, is "120kb of 60mb completed" and below it: "download complete". I can't work it out.No problem DOWNLOADING even large files from Limewire and the like. Just from applications on the web using "save target as". Can you post a sample download link?another option. try using download accelerator like free download manager. maybe that will help you with your problem. if you don't like those, that is a temp fix while you try figuring out what's wrong with your computer.
That did help for me before, but you could give it a shot and let us know how it goes :-)DLoad accelerators and managers sometimes create more issues than they solve...i would wait until we have more info and have tried some other solutions before introducing them into the mix.Downloaders won't work with what the OP is trying to do anyway.
Quote DLoad accelerators and managers sometimes create more issues than they solve.
Number of them, are loaded with all kind of malwares, and in many cases they don't deliver, what they promise to do. Some may help with broken connections (especially with dial-up), but you have to be very careful, which one to use.
