Solve : downloading my pictures help...?

I used to have XP. now I have Vista. I really am not liking it.
Is there any way to 'format' or something my CD's or DVD's so we can view them on our DVD player/TV? ..with XP we were able to do this. Now I can't make picture CDs for people(family) to see if they don't have a computer! this Vista stinks!
I'm a beginner here so computer terms may be hard for me to understand.. thank you!What PROGRAM are you using to BURN CDs/DVDs?
Vista has own "Windows DVD Maker".not sure. when i open my pictures and click on one, the top heading gives you choices. I choose 'burn'.
 would windows DVD Maker make a difference so we can play them on our DVD player??? Quote

Then what?You'd have to choose to ''burn'' as DVD and not as ''DATA disk" to ''play'' on your player I am thinking.

Wondering what process you SUCCESSFULLY used when under XP (and yeah, IMO Vista SUCKS!).Thank you! the windows movie maker worked! i took my pictures and used the movie maker and they work on my DVD player! thanks everyone!!Very well
