Specs:
Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD Phenom II P960 Quad-Core 1.80 GHz
RAM: 6.00 GB
Operating system: WINDOWS 7 Home Premium (64-bit) Service pack 1 (Original, on computer from the start. (Swedish))
GRAPHICS card: AMD Radeon HD 6650M
Hard Drive: 680 GB (388 GB free)
Antivirus: Avast Antivirus
Screens: The laptop monitor and a BenQ GL2750H (27" LED connected via HDMI)

I recently bought an extra screen for my laptop, my old one was kind of small to play games on.
It worked fine for hours but then suddenly my computer couldn't handle any demanding games any more.
In games i previously had a stable framerate i now had around 12 FPS which is very hard to work with.
It also seems to slow down in-game, there is noticeable lag between when i move the mouse and when the cursor actually moves.
Since "the slowdown", Nothing seems to work! I've tried with both screens, only the big one and only the small one, but ALWAYS the same sluggishness.
I'd be happy to provide more information if needed, but, as this is my FIRST post, i don't really know what to include more than what i have already.Edit: My graphics work fine when a youtube video is in the browser, either paused or playing.I don't know if it will have any bearing but i notice your reference to being on SP1. As of today (or within the last 2 days) Win 7 is updated to SP3. You might want to try updating that to start with.truenorth
P.S. I might have thought it was a graphics card issue except you believe that it is not. Also given it was (i assume ) working well before the addition of the larger screen and now it is not when on only the small screen by itself. I assume that when you are trying the small screen you have the large one disconnected? Quote from: truenorth on February 16, 2012, 05:19:59 PM

Whoa here!  SP3 has not been released and neither has SP2 or Windows 7.  SP2 is rumored to be released in mid-2012.I think he was thinking of XP... Quote from: patio on February 16, 2012, 06:07:30 PM
I think he was thinking of XP...
Yeah, he probably just had a senior moment.   Now,now boys i meant "SP3" on win 7. This is comin at you from my Toshiba laptop Win 7 64. In the midst of online activity earlier today my work was interrupted by a win update. Did an automatic shutdown and on restart i was given the opportunity to show all the updates that had just been installed. I didn't count them all but i would say easily 50 line items. Mostly security updates but one was stated as SP3.  I'll try and delve more deeply tomorrow and get back to you.truenorth
D--- Well 1/2 right "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack Service Pack 3 (SP3)"

Didn't want you guys staying awake wondering what did he actually see.
Those darn details will get you every time. There were so many updates listed i just scanned them rapidly to see what had happened with the current update. Didn't realize that it was showing them ALL since updates were installed on this computer. My apologies to the o/p. O/S win7 SP 2 due around June 2012.

Seriously, I can't find a reason for any laptops to be labelled as gaming laptops in terms of hardware components and design. the extreme alienwares not a good gaming laptop?
