Solve : Driver Backup? |
|
Answer» Does anyone know if Win 7 will back up ones drivers please? I know there are gizmo's out there that will install and backup. Problem is you need to use the same gizmo everyti me. Which is ok if you stick to one gizmo. I don't think I've seen anyone use the word gizmo in three consecutive sentences. I am not a lover of using the web to store mate. I would much rather store on my external hard drive. Is this the only way to backup drivers outside the various programs that are about bud? Windows system restore is just what the name implies it is a tool (local tool / built into the OS) it allows you to restore your PC back to created restore points / older dates before major changes were made to the PC. So if something goes wrong you can roll the PC back in time. To help you about system restore here is a link to MS http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore Some PC manufactures will have a folder on the C drive that will contain PC drivers but I don't know what model PC you have so I REALLY can't tell you what it may be called. If you find that folder than you can save that folder if that is what you are talking about " Is this the only way to backup drivers outside the various programs that are about bud?" Hope this helps you, Mike C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe Copy the Driver installation files to a external drive. Now you've successfully backed them up. yay.Well I do 'do' a system restore point quite frequently here, and I am pleased to say it has often been a great help to me. However, there have been occasions when the darned thing has refused, or said that it failed to do the restoration, which has left me not trusting it 100% i'm afraid guys! Talking about this backing up and restoring divers. I would be interested to know if any of you guys have found a reliable gizmo? I use DriverMax myself .. the free version. I have tried one or two others but can't say that they impress me much. DriverMax doesn't but it delivers the goods albeit after a little time. So when my drive is nearly full, it doenst work?Good morning Paci and welcome to CH In the future if you have a suggestion / idea please CONTRIBUTE (just not in the AV / Malware section). But if you need to ask a question please do so by starting your own thread. This way it is much easier to keep track of and will not be confusing to anyone on the forum. Thank you and once again welcome to CH Mike |
