Thank-You John PCI Communication Device. Modem PCI Multimedia Audio Device. Sound card
You need the correct drivers for both devices. Can you identify the make model of these devices? And if you can't, use Everest Home to find out:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.htmlOr you could try re-installing your MBoard drivers that came with the machine...I don't know how to find out what make or model they are. This is a used pc from a business that closed. How do I use Everest Home? What else can I do if anything. There is no name on the pc.You need to download and run Everest as GX1_Man pointed out. It will ID you hardware then you will know the sound and modem.
Go to the below link.

Choose "Make a Report" and then copy and paste it here. It may take several posts to get it all. Run Everest again. Click the + next to PCI Devices to expand the category. You should find the name of the modem listed there. This is what you need a driver for. If you never use a 56K modem, you can just ignore the ENTRY in device manager.
Do the same for multimedia tab.
