Solve : Drop-down boxes/ End of Solitaire?

Answer»

I'm a court reporter, and I use a special software called CaseCatalyst to edit my transcripts.  I just bought the software, and during training, my trainer noticed that certain drop-down boxes only stay open for 1-2 seconds, if they even open at all.  I'm supposed to hit T on my computer which allows me to edit a certain word, and the software will have a drop-down box that will auto-suggest the word I'm trying to edit.  This box is SUPPOSED to pop up automatically once I hit "T", but even CLICKING the "suggest" box only opens it for the 1-2 seconds, then closes.  I called the techincal support and they told me it was something with my computer.

I also noticed that after winning a game of Solitaire, the cards scatter for about 1-2 seconds, and then it automatically goes to the "Play Again?" box.  I have a feeling these are both part of the same issue, and I have no idea how to resolve it.

Any suggestions?  I'd really appreciate it.

-Andreaif the computer is a laptop, I wonder if there are some "HELPFUL" keyboard or touchpad settings which have been enabled, and I wonder if these things happen if an external keyboard and mouse are plugged in and used.

I am not a laptop expert, and I wouldn't really know how to proceed if you found that the problems you DESCRIBED went away with an external KB & mouse, but at LEAST you would have narrowed it down a bit.
It is a laptop, a Dell Vostro 1000 to be exact.  I wouldn't even know what the keypad settings should be on, but I don't use an external mouse and never have.  The software trainer tried looking at my settings and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.  If anyone had any other suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

What I MEANT was, plug in an ordinary keyboard and mouse and see if it still happens. Another idea is to join one of the steno boards and ask people who use the software daily.
