I am using Windows XP as my Operating system and have installed a Leadtek Winfast DTV 1000S TV capture card on my computer. The card was bought in australia and now I am based in India. The Winfast PVR has been installed properly but when I configure and hit the list of "countries" button India is not on the list. Most are all European countries with the exception of Taiwan. I would like to know if these capture cards are made region specific or can they be used in different regions of the world. I am unable to watch live Indian TV on my computer via the TV card although I have CONNECTED the card to a cable antenna.
In case Winfast PVR cannot be used what are my options. Do they have another media system where I can watch live TV in India. Reply will be greatly appreciated.Television in India

In which region do you live? Do you want English, French or German? You may have to invest in satellite television. Depending where you live. Here is a list.

The standard seems to be like the USA, technically. However, TV in India is divided among many different linguistics groups. The first article above outlines the political and economic issues about TV in India. Television is very popular, but the trend is to have users get a SET top box to receive some over the air BROADCASTS. It is decrypted, so you have to pay a fee to watch. There is some free TV broadcasts. PRESENTLY analog is used, but digital will soon become required.

That is the best I can do for you. I have never been to India.Did you not get an instruction manual with the card which deals with where it is intended to be used and/or the criteria of use? Have you tried to contact the company that made it with your question via technical support?Unless there is a CH member that has that particular device and also is in India i doubt you will get much credible advice here.truenorth
