Answer» Thanks for chiming in. Welcome aboard Device manager shows 2 sets of ATA channel 0 and channel 1, plus it has another set of standard dual channel PCI IDE controllers. I tried to uninstall but it starts to re install them before I can get them all uninstalled. When I reboot they are back, it makes me re boot a SECOND time, but it still isn't working.They're back, because Windows reinstalls them. That's normal, and a whole POINT here. Open computer case, while computer off, try to disconnect, and reconnect the drive.I went to place I bought computer, they say it might be software problem. What KINDS of software would make a CD/DVD stop reading?Are you sure, the DRIVES are connected correctly? What happens, if you simply replace old one with the new one?
