Answer» I have a windows XP Media center HP pavilion a1310n. It came with a DVD drive/ burner. I went to put in my Handycam DVD+RW and my computer says their is nothing their, but when i put in a regular DVD it works. I put it in my other computer and it open the files on it. I don't know what the DVD drive/burner is called, All I know it that it has LIGHTSCRIBE. Does anyone know why?? Is there any more info i can give to be more helpful to solve this problem.That is nice machine, comes standard with 1gb ram but can install up to 4gb.
But that does not solve your problem. First how old is the machine, is it still under warrany? I don't know what the DVD drive/burner is called, All I know it that it has lightscribe. Does anyone know why?? Are ASKING why it has lightscribe or why it won't run your Handycam dvd?
lightscribe = label burner
Actually lightscribe's BURN the actual DVD/CD's themselves. They come with impregnated ink in the blank media. Much NICER than labels as labels can ruin a burner.
Smitty have you installed the handycam software on the machine ? ? It may be needed to translate/read the cam DVD's...Check your camcorder instruction manual. You may have to format the disk to make it read in the DVD drive. I'm asking about the Handycam DVD+RW
Ok I think i might know what the problem is. Its most likely the format then because the dvd from the camera worked on my other computer.
The Camera is not actually mine. I'm USING for a school project so i'll check with them and see if they can change the format
ThanksLet us know and good luck.
