Answer» I need help here! I bought Acer Aspire laptop and that came with windows vista. I wasn't too familiar with vista so decided to CHANGE it to XP instead. everything works fine, but the only problem is, my pc does not recognise the DVD drive. when I check on 'My Computer' it says cd drive, I cannot burn any DVDs at all (which I used to on vista), this is DRIVING me insane as I need to urgently burn some copies of DVDs for EDUCATIONAL purposes. I cannot also play dvd normally exept through VLC, which is ok with me as long as i can burn some dvds on my computer. will greatly appreciate your help Biggy How old is the DVD burner ? ? It could be that the DVD laser is shot... Swap it into another machine to test...start -> run -> services.msc check to make SURE logical disk manager is running
