Solve : ebay login?

Answer»

hi all, when I sign in to my ebay account I get a box where I need to insert numbers to get to my account. Is there anyway to bypass this, cheers in advance. What do the numbers represent? Are they your ebay account name? Or, are you referring to a CAPTCHA? I am PRETTY certain that what you are referring to is the "password" required to access your personal account information or to actively bid on the site. I too have an e-bay account but very seldom have used it. Often there are offers on a site (such as CH forums) to "remember" your passwords or to "always" stay signed in. However i would NOT recommend that for QUITE a variety of reasons particularly on a site like e-bay. I believe it opens up access vulnerability issues that should be avoided. Out of curiosity why do you want to do this only for convenience?truenorth Quote from: snookerglen8 on January 04, 2012, 01:04:26 PM

What web browser are you using? All browsers do not behave the same way regarding the storing of passwords for secure websites.
Thxs everyone for your help. I'm using Firefox. This is what happens:- After signing in to my ebay account by typing in my User ID and password I then have to enter 6 numbers from an image into a box to continue to my account. Can entering the 6 numbers be bypassed. I'm the only user of my pc.No...it cannot be bypassed...it's called Captcha.I have an ebay account and do not get a captcha when I sign in. Have you had repeated failed sign-in attempts recently? I believe that if eBay sees some kind of suspicious behavior' on your account such as multiple failed login attempts, then they turn on CAPTCHA's for it. They won't turn it off until the login FAILURES cease. Excellent point Soybean...hadn't considered that.soybean, a couple of years ago when I was using internet explorer, a problem developed accessing my ebay account. Kept getting "cannot access the webpage", but since starting using Firefox I can. Never had CAPTCHA with IE before problem started. For 2 years i've had correct logins with FF but still get CAPTCHA.Then it's possible the login uses an ACTIVEX component...which FFox doesn't use///
Does it do the same now with IE ? ?I can sign in to my ebay account with Firefox, IE, and Opera and not get a captcha with any of them.

... meaning no repeated attempts due to typing errors. Is that right? Have you used the same password for 2 years?

Do you periodically clear browser COOKIES and cache? Have you changed the default Privacy settings in Firefox? soybean, same password for last 2 years. I use CCleaner every day, so that will delete cookies and cache. I've just checked my FFox privacy settings. I'ts set to "never remember history". Will it help if i change it to "remember history", cheers.Uncheck the eBay site from the CCleaner cookie list...this should solve it...thxs patio, your suggestion solved it. I removed ebay from delete cookies list in Ccleaner.
