Answer» I'm going to format my hard disk. How do I backup my emails in my Outlook Express and how do I restore them back after the format?Lokk under File/Export and Import. Got to use that tool bar. You can also go to www.google.com and type in export Outlook and press enter for lots of hits! How about backup? Do I just copy those .dbx files and import them back? Let's consider a case where I may want to import mails from another computer to my computer. Does it overwrite my existing mails or just add on?I believe it will overwrite what you have. In the case of a fresh load, of course that would be inconsequential. there will be .dbx files and maybe others from each of your folders - in, out, etc. i just keep a separate directory called outlook and let the default be to save them there. i tmakes it VERY easy to backup the WHOLE directory later.
You can backup and save your favorites in internet explorer the same way.I don't use outlook very much but isn't there .psb and .PST files that NEED to be saved as well?Go to Tools-->OPTIONS-->Maintenance tab and click Store folder. This is the folder where all your messages are stored.
Copy this folder where you want and from Import , you can restore them with no overwriting or loss.
Hope Helps.
