Solve : encountered an error?

Answer»

I'm trying to run a Spanish learning program on CD that I bought but I keep getting this error message when I try to open the exe. file to run the program. It says xxx.exe has encountered an error and must close. The CD is installed ok but no matter what I get this error message. I've tried all the usual stuff such as RESTARTING the computer, removing and reinstalling the program, repairing the program with the repair feature on the CD , starting the computer in safe mode, made sure of plenty of ram and hd SPACE. I notified the company I bought the program from and they emailed me a zip file of the CD but after unzipping and using those folders/files I still get the same error message. The program placed an icon on the desktop but when I click on that I get the same error message. I've shut down Zone ALARM and AVG virus programs, shut down any program using the sound card, still no result. This is with XP pro. Any advice? Thanks much!Have you right clicked on the icon and changed compatability mode?

Maybe it won't run in XP.What's the name of the program? What are its requirements? The name is Visual Link Spanish. No requirements that the average computer doesn't have. I have gotten this error on other applications for example at odd times when I open or try to open Win Media Player. If I restart it will open Is this an XP compatible program?Just for the heck of it, I'd update AVG and SCAN in Safe Mode to see if it finds anything unwanted.
