Solve : "Encountering a Problem" message?

Answer»

I am getting a message box that pops up in various AREAS including application programs and Windows and Internet Explorer. It states that the program has "encountered a problem and needs to shut down". At the bottom it gives me three option buttons, SEND or Don't Send to Microsoft, and DeBug. When I click any of these options it closes the application and I lose everything I was working on. This is happening more frequently and it's an extreme pain. I have no virus that I know of and I scan daily for adware/spyware. What causes this and how do I KILL IT?
Thank you,
BGtry msconfig in the run box......startup folder.....scroll down the list and disable error reporting.......What type of file or what file extension is error reporting?
BGsorry my friend i should have said........services....now scroll down the list.....underneath dns client.......... [error reporting service] untick the box

the startup folder is for win9x......got carried away....or will be.....Thank you Merlin. I have done that and will let you know the results.
BGI am unable to disable DNS Client. Each TIME I go and uncheck the box, return to Normal Start-Up, and then look to see if DNS Client is disabled it is checked again. Am I doing this wrong in some way?
