Answer» Hi Everyone,
I am trying to stop a service in WINDOWS XP SP2. However, when I try to stop the service, I receive Error 1053. I'm trying to stop the Telephony service because it is hogging my CPU. I can pause the service, but I can't stop the service.
Right now I'm too angry to type.
Any help very appreciated. Thank you.Did you try SAFE Mode? Try also "ServiWin": HTTP://www.nirsoft.net/utils/serviwin.htmlI'll see what happens in Safe Mode...Sometimes, there is a problem to stop some service, but you can always set it to "Disable", and when you restart your computer, it won't be running anymore.Safe Mode didn't work. The Advanced STARTUP Options SCREEN was bypassed. Instead, I was told to select the OS to start, even though I only have one.
I disabled the Telephony service, so I'm going to restart and see what happens.Thank you, Broni.
SVCHOST.EXE is no longer hogging my CPU.You're welcome, and use that ServiWin program, which is better, then Windows "services.msc".
