Solve : Error 163 and 173? |

Answer» I have an IBM 600e laptop with Windows 98. Yesterday I installed a new battery. Today when I turned on my computer it came up a little symbol of a lock. I hit enter and it comes up with two errors, 163 and 173. It won't go past these errors. Any idea of what is causing these errors and how can I overcome them. Any help would be much APPRECIATED. Thanks.Just an additional note on this PROBLEM. When I get the lock symbol on start up, it looks like it wants a password. It allows me to type up to 23 characters and then when I hit enter, an "X" appears next to the lock. It allows me to try again and then another "X" appears next to the lock UPON failure. If I try a third time and fail, a hand appears with a diagnal line through it. It then won't allow me any further unless I turn off the computer and start over. |
