Answer» I have trouble with my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, running Windows XP.
I have run diagnostics and ended up with Error code 0F00:0228.
Dell techical have said they can resolve but they want to return to factory settings and I lose my data. But there is some data I could really do with keeping.
Dell suggest TAKING to my local 'technician' (data recovery company?).
Or does anyone have a way I could do this?ONE solution is to grab one of these for about 8 Bucks...2.5" laptop to IDE connector:
This will allow you to remove the laptop DRIVE and hook it up as a slave in any Desktop system to retrieve your data...Many thanks - I will buy one.
(8 bucks, that must be around £100 at todays rate of exchange! )True... I use Petro dollars myself.
I am having the same issue! I just purchased fix it software from Spotmau and it does not seem to work! This is soooo frustrating-yes, I have the same Dell Inspiron 6000 and xp--not sure what to do next !!?? I have bought this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130517
I have removed the HARD drive from the laptop but it does not fit onto this adapter - or am I doing something wrong?
Have I bought the wrong product? Or do I have to remove the casing around the hard drive?
OK - I have sussed it!
I had to take off the converting plastic thingy from the hard drive to reveal a set of 'pins'.
And it works!!!!!
I can read the hard drive from another PC!
I can highly recommend the Plexus usb to ide 'thing'.
