Disc is not corrupt - Do I have to ditch LAPTOP

Ditch your laptop?? Calm down. There is always a chance to try. Give us a few hours for the people around the WORLD to read this message.Have you purged your Hard drive (if you want a full re-start)thanks,
I did that when it asked if I wanted to delete partitions during setup.  I choose to start with a new partition.

During setup to format the new raw partition it SAID it was unable to format. "The disk may be damaged."
So can you not replace the drive\computer? These things do pass there USE by dates!!What do you mean by:

If you have messages about bad sectors, run HD diagnostics before wasting more time.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create BOOTABLE floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD, and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, which is not listed, try using Hitachi tools.
