Some interesting reading I aint being funny but that answer refers to windows 2000!
I have been having similar problems with my Dell Inspiron 6000 LAPTOP running Windows XP.
I have run a Dell diagnostics and am gradually GETTING to grips with it - if I find a good answer I will POST it.
Yep that's windows 2000; I have XP Kerry I appreciate your EFFORTS. Post if you find anything. 2000, XP, same flavour different topping. Boot the WinXP CD Enter the Recovery Console by pressing 'r' when prompted. Then from the command prompt run "chkdsk C: /r"
and/or remove the disk..take to another machine and install as slave drive..and run chkdsk /r on it there...
Good Luck
